Here is the original 636 page:

It is fairly equivalent to the CFAH1602B-YYB-JPE:

i ordered all the parts that caseetec recommended in the LCD Info page and i see that i need a 10k resistor in those schematics, whats up with that?

I don't have that schematic memorized, but the 10K is probably a potentiometer to set the contrast. Post a link to the schematic and I'll look at it.

i just got my LCD today and i think i broke it. the gold rings that the wires go through came off and i dont think it will make contact.

i think i may have fixed the problem. iall i see now on the LCD is just black blocks which disappear when i adjust the potentiometer. i have installed LCDriver and that doesnt help either

ok, i must be the biggest idiot because while trying to fix the problem i crossed 2 things and shorted something out so now i wasted another $20 on the lcd. but still any comments or suggestions(besides "DONT BREAK IT") are welcome
