I am interested to know if it is possible to use your LCD screens to monitor the temperatures on a computer, using the motherboard sensors?
Also, what other uses can you screens be put to (for a domestic situation ie winamp tracks etc)

Joe:
Thank you for your question.
Crystalfontz only supplies the hardware, so you will need to find software that suits your needs. That being said, there is a large amount of software available that supports our displays. There are links to all of the ones we know about on our links page:

Specifically, LCDriver will work in concert with Motherboard Monitor to show system temperatures, voltages and fan speeds. I think the latest version of the NT port of LCDproc will also access and display the MBM data.
There are a couple of ways to get Winamp data to the display. LCDriver, Serial Control and Cobra should each do the trick.
If you are set up to program, the displays are dirt-simple to talk to. Just open the COM port and then sent the string to the display. We have the source code to our WinTest program available as a C/C++ example:

Hopefully that will get you started. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Joe foster,
If you download and install LCDriver from http://lcdriver.planetofnoreturn.org you can find several plugins that will utilize MotherBoard Monitor(http://mbm.livewiredev.com/), One of the better plugins in my opinion is the one from http://www.borderfield.com/lcd.php which allows you to display temps, fan speeds, uptime, IP address and many more. Make sure you download MBM 4 and not 5 as this plugin only works with 4.
