Here is a screen that will put a couple of animated eyes on your screen!
Tell your little kids the computer is watching them! LOL
The screen assumes the eyes01.gif file is in the c:\gifs directory. If you want to put the gif file some place else you will have to open up the showgif_2eyes.2002 file with a text editor and change the line;
opt10="filename=C:\gifs\eyes01.gif" to whatever the new path is.
The showgif_2eyes.2002 file should be saved in your;
C:\Program Files\CrystalControl2\cc2-config\screens
or wherever you loaded the program files to.
Hope this works on your system too. Enjoy

Here is a slight modification to the CPU usage bargraph. Put the .2002 file in your;
C:\Program Files\CrystalControl2\cc2-config\screens
directory or wherever you you installed crystal control.

Hey daks,
Try this one. It adds an x-offset.:D

Hmm doesn't work for me.
Screen just displays:
[E01][E01]
[E01][E01]

The
[E01][E01]
[E01][E01]
means that the gif file is not found, so...
Make sure you put the GIF files in a directory c:\gif
Should work then.

Mine came up as above until I realised the pic was in a folder called Gif instead of Gifs that the screen was calling for, once changed it worked perfectly. This was my fault, a simple typo.....
Hope this helps,

I recently posted this in another CC2 thread, but this is a more fitting place and central for everyone.
Myfan.zip is a Speedfan Screen that has been edited from a couple of the included screens in CC2. It shows as follows
2 text entries on the top line and two on the bottom line so you get ......
CPU + PWM
PSU + HDD
Use as you wish, at your own risk. Amend as you feel fit.

Have a look in your
C:\Program Files\CrystalControl2\cc2-service directory for a file called service.log
Open it and near the bottom you should see where all the dll's are loaded...
do you see this line?
Sat 18 15:41:54 NOTICE load_dlls: DLL_OTHER plugin "cc2_showgif.dll" loaded
Or does it say that it is not a valid dll file?
Also in your showgif.log file do you see something like this;
Sat 18 15:41:55 NOTICE ini_read_string: value found: gif-03->filename = "C:\gifs\16amfl01.gif"

JC came up with a really good screen edit which shows the date on the top line and the time plus am/pm indicator on the bottom line. I cannot and will not try to improve on that, but here is a slight modification of his screen showing the date in English format.
Thus, you get DD/MM/YYYY (instead of MM/DD/YYYY)
Time + AM/PM
No offence intended here guys, but this is how we do it in the Uk. Thanks once again to JC who came up with a great improvement in the first place.

Go to your windows directory or winnt and go to the system32 subdirectory...
Do you have a file in there called MSVCR71.DLL ?

reider,
When I date drawings at work, it is in the format of:
18DEC04
I prefer this format, unforunately, date options in CC2 (and Windows) do not have this format, so...
The secondary here is MM/DD/YYYY instead of DD/MM/YYYY. Either way is fine for me.
What I have found confusing is the US method of 2,000.00 vs. 2.000,00 in Europe:D !

Remember in CC1 how we used to add our own text to the LCD panel? Once we get the screen/events editor we`ll probably be able to do that again. Thankfully though, owing to the sheer brilliance of the CC2 Tech/Admin in the way CC2 was implemented, we have a temporary fix in the way of the following three screens.
Mytext_centre
When loaded in CC2 as a screen will offer a text input box. The text you type in here will be added to line one of the LCD panel in the centre position. The text you type in the second box will be added to line two of the LCD panel again in the centre position. The displayed text will be static unless you exceed 20 characters on the CFA 631 on each line, a space is counted as a character too. If you exceed the count then the text will automatically scroll.
By adding this screen and then hitting the `restart CC2` button you should get the desired screen. Unload the screen, reload and enter fresh text and you have an updated display any time you wish.
Mytext_scroll
Works exactly the same way as the screen above with the 20 character rule and the text input boxes. Except that, the top line is static-say for a title or name and the bottom line scrolls even if the text is less than 20 characters.
Mytext
Now this one is for the brave amongst you, not too much to worry about. Instead of a text box for each of the two lines you can enter your own text in the file itself at the indicated places. This will display until you next change the file. It can be edited in notepad, just be careful (don`t select `always use notepad to edit files of this type`. Now if you inspect the other two screens closely you will seee the slight changes necessary for scroll and centre. Answers on a postcard to the usual place.......
All three screens are zipped into one file for your convenience. File size is not excessive anyway as these are basically text files.
Please remember all screens are written/amended by enthusiasts and used at your own risk. Have fun and enjoy, please remember too that the CC2 team have worked long and hard on these enhancements for your benefit, feedback is appreciated-both good and bad.

It appears they need more DLLs than just MSVCR71.DLL :(
Ill try and work out exactly what they need in the next few days.

To be honest I have no idea! I have just been saving avatars and funny gifs for months by saving them in my pictures directory with a right click. LOL

I would really love to see some more of the showgif screens... Maybe for gamers, a rifle going firing or something like that... Love the work you guys are doing!! Is there a way to show how much disk space you are using or how much you have left as there was with CC1??

The type of GIFs needed for CC2 are rather specific (16 x 24), although length is not critical because CC2 truncates it. You also need a clear background. Search the web and if you find a good one that works, post it here!:)
As far as Diskspace, etc.: I don't think so. I can't get the disk usage routines to work on mine at all. CC admin suggested that a file might be missing. I don't want to reinstall Windows just to check, however!
I do miss the routines you are asking for, also. I would suggest that you post this request in the main CC2 forum and direct it to CC admin.

Ill try and make up some disk used/free screens.
Im not sure itll work though... if it doesnt, youll have to wait for the screen-editor :(

Now I know for sure that Daks can imitate a .gif when the mood takes him. Ask nicely n who knows, nobody can show that same skill so far. If he can do a running man then maybe he can do a rifle too.....

whatever... when i was in fifth grade i used to do the running man all the time... maybe i should have just kept that to myself... Anywayz i'll play around with it and see what i can figure out on my own.. I would like to have the skill to make my own showgif screens at will anywayz.. but if anyone wants to beat me to the punch yer welcome to it!!

I haven`t tried my theory but I would say save the screen as another title. Edit the pic, keeping the elements within the contours of the original block sizes. ie Line 0-7 repeated however many times and only 6 characters wide. Now save it, load into CC2 in the normal way and it should then deposit the details automatically into the cc2_cchar.ini

That is the first thing i tried, and it gave me the error code that it gives when it can't find the .gif... I'm wondering if it's because i just did one single frame rather than the whole animated thing.. Is there file size checking embedded in the 2002 file?

I am not exactly sure what you are asking for but here goes...
cc2_showgif.ini does has some checking in it, for example, from my showgif_16amfl01 screen
[from00]
from="cc2_showgif.ini"
sec="gif-#"
opt01="idRow1=@01"
opt02="idRow2=@02"
opt03="xOffset=16"
opt04="yOffset=0"
opt05="width=24"
opt06="height=16"
opt07="start=1"
opt08="end=10"
opt09="delay=100"
opt10="filename=C:\gifs\16amfl01.gif"
Note options 7 & 8. Mostly option 8. If your GIF file has less frames than than the "end", the routine will fail because it is looking for more frames than the file has.
Hope this helps...
Jim

wow, shoulda known it was something like that. I feel like a dumbass for not looking for myself... anyways that's GREAT!! Changing the end value got my test screen working. But with it only being able to show 24 blocks in width, that puts teh brakes on my rifle idea.

just finished my first showgif screen. Boy does it suck, i wouldn't dare show it in public. It seems that the files i've been editing, the moving eye ones, arent the full size vertically. Is that true?? Because when i output to my display it adds pixels to the the top of the screen. It only does this when i draw to the top row of pixels on the .gif, it then fills in an additional row that i have no control over at the very top.
jc634

I do not remember the size of the eyes. You can easily check by right-clicking on the file and check properties to see the size.

that really doesn't matter to me at this point.. I need to make the gif cover the enitre screen on the X axis. What would I have to do to make it work? I got this super weak looking animated screen of a bomb with a timer tickin down and then some guy's face desenigrates or however you spell it... It's so weak i can't even run it on my own 631 here at the house without feeling like a moron. I mean, my own woman was laughing at me... what the hell?? I need to animate this whole screen so i can make pimp **** that the ladies will flock to my nerdy ass for... All joking aside, am i truly limited by the showgif.ini to the point where i can't fill the screen up??

Upload the GIF to me and I will see what I can do. I have tried to experiment with doing just what I think you want without much success. I have to admit that I didn't try very hard after I got what wanted working a different way.
I could try to walk you here (I even started a reply) but it very involved trying to explain blind.:(
Anyway, upload your GIF and explain to me what you want to do with that particular one.
