Thanks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crystalfontz.com\/blog\/glossary\/transflective-lcd\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"TRANSFLECTIVE is a portmanteau of TRANSmissive and reFLECTIVE. A transflective LCD combines the best features of a reflective LCDs and transmissive LCDs. &nbsp; A transflective LCD will reflect ambient light, allowing it to be visible in normal office light without using a backlight. In bright sunlight, a transflective LCD is still visible and does not&hellip;\" class=\"encyclopedia\">transflective<\/a> technology, these displays are sunlight readable without needing a high powered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crystalfontz.com\/blog\/glossary\/backlight\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"A backlight is used behind the LCD glass to allow the LCM to be read in dark conditions. The vast majority of backlights are now LED. Historically there were also EL (electroluminescent) and CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Light) backlights, but as LED efficiency has increased and cost has decreased, EL and CCFL backlights have all&hellip;\" class=\"encyclopedia\">backlight<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 3.3v source is sufficient for both logic and backlight power! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crystalfontz.com\/product\/cfaf240320d0020fr-240x320-2-inch-sunlight-readable-tft-display\">resistive touch version of the 2&Prime; transflective TFT <\/a>is also available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.crystalfontz.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/CFAF240320D0_020FR_INHAND_FRONT_ON.jpg\" alt=\"Display shown with a hand for scale. How it works: Transparent conductive layerA capacitive touchscreen has a glass surface coated with a transparent conductive material (commonly indium tin oxide, ITO). Electrostatic fieldThe conductive layer holds a uniform&hellip;\" class=\"encyclopedia\">capacitive<\/a> touch display with overhanging glass. This family of displays is sunlight readable thanks to a bright backlight, and supports parallel, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crystalfontz.com\/blog\/glossary\/rgb\/\" target=\"_self\" title='The RGB interface transfers image data using a separate parallel line for each bit of color information. For larger color depths, more lines have to be independently controlled. Each line represents a 2x multiplier on potential colors that can be described. Monochrome displays have just 1-bit color and pixels are either \"on\" or \"off\". These boards take a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crystalfontz.com\/blog\/glossary\/zif\/\" target=\"_self\" title='ZIF is short for Zero Insertion Force and refers to a type of connector. This kind of connector is intended to be used with FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) or FFC (Flat Flexible Cable). Many of our display have \"ZIF tails\" that easily mate with a ZIF connector. ZIF tails are beneficial over solder down tails&hellip;' class=\"encyclopedia\">ZIF<\/a> connector and break it out to a tenth inch header for easy prototyping.
