A few months ago, we were approached by a senior student working on a capstone project at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EWU<\/a> and the project was unveiled at a poster presentation on June 1st at the university.<\/p>\n<p>We are impressed by this project, incorporating a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crystalfontz.com\/search.php?q=CFA835\">Crystalfontz 835 LCD module<\/a> and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arduino.cc\/en\/Main\/ArduinoBoardMega2560\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller<\/a> to build a 32-Ton Automated Hydraulic Press Brake.<\/p>\n<h3>Design &amp; Build: 32-Ton Automated Hydraulic Press Brake<\/h3>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Capstone_course#cite_note-FordFord2006-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">capstone project<\/a> is a culminating project to integrate everything the student has learned. For this project, the team&rsquo;s goal was, among other things, to build a press capable of &ldquo;bending A36 steel plate up to 1\/4&Prime; in thickness, at least 19&Prime; wide.&rdquo; No small task.<\/p>\n<p>A programmable, easy-to-integrate, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crystalfontz.com\/blog\/glossary\/lcd\/\" target=\"_self\" title=\"LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. An LCD is composed of two pieces of glass with a thin layer of liquid crystals between the glass layers. When a voltage is applied to the glass, the orientation of the crystals can be changed. This change in the crystal's orientation (called polarization) will make either a dark&hellip;\" class=\"encyclopedia\">LCD<\/a> with a keypad was necessary for automation and user interaction with the hydraulic press break.
