Put a big, crisp, paper-like image in front of your users that stays on screen even after you cut the power. This 10.2" black and white ePaper display packs 960x640 pixels at 113 ppi into a panel just 1.0mm thick. You get sharp text and graphics in a slim profile, plus power consumption low enough for designs that run for months on a battery.

Because the display is bi-stable, it only draws power while it updates. Expect about 16mA typical during a refresh and just 3µA in deep sleep. Between updates, your image stays put at zero power, which makes this panel a natural fit for battery-powered and energy-harvesting projects.

The on-board SSD1677 controller handles the heavy lifting. On-chip display RAM, an integrated DC-DC booster, and built-in regulation for the VCOM, gate, and source driving voltages mean you only need a few external components. An I2C master interface reads an external temperature sensor so the controller can compensate its waveforms for accurate updates across the 0°C to +50°C operating range.

You connect over a simple 3-wire or 4-wire SPI interface from a 2.2V to 3.7V supply, so it works with just about any microcontroller. Full screen updates take 4 seconds, and partial updates take just 0.42 seconds. You can refresh a price, a sensor reading, or a status field without redrawing the whole screen.

The antiglare hard-coated front surface and pure reflective mode give you a 20:1 contrast ratio and an ultra-wide viewing angle that stays readable in bright ambient light. To get your prototype running fast, pair it with the CFA10084 ePaper breakout board.
