This display module is a 3 inch diagonal, 240xRGBx400, full color TFTLCD display. It has a wide-screen format and white LED backlight. Its integrated controller gives you a simple, fast, digital interface to the display through your 3v processor's port pins.
It may be used in either portrait or landscape orientation. In portrait mode, the narrow width of the TFT display works well with portable, handheld, or embedded systems. In landscape mode, the low profile of the TFT LCD display may be used for the user interface of 2U+ rack mount devices, or in bench top laboratory equipment such as power supplies, meters, and signal generators.
We are changing our TFT part numbers to have them better describe the parts being ordered. The change should be complete for all TFT modules shipping within the next six months.
Part numbers will change as follows:
CFAF128160C-T will change to CFAF128160C-018T
CFAF176220M-T will change to CFAF176220U-020T
CFAF240320E-T will change to CFAF240320H-022T
CFAF240320K-T-TS will change to CFAF240320K-024T-TS
CFAF240320P-T will change to CFAF240320S-032T
CFAF240400D-T will change to CFAF240400D-030T
CFAF320240F-T will change to CFAF320240F-035T
CFAF320240F-T-TS will change to CFAF320240F-035T-TS
There are many TFT modules with the same logical dimensions (resolution) with considerably different sizes. In order to help ease any confusion, we have decided to add the diagonal dimension to the part number.
The part number is all that is changing, there are no other changes to the parts, so there should be no significant impact.
The transition period should be about six months from the date of this bulletin.
Part Change Notice #10289: Changed pin table wording, 3 pin names to reduce confusion about the interface select pins.
November 10, 2010
Changed pin table wording, 3 pin names to reduce confusion about the interface select pins.
CFAF240400D series datasheet change.
The name of one pin was confusing based on the pin names in the controller datasheet.
For reference only. For design purposes, please use the specifications in the datasheet.
This module is engineered for high volume production. It uses a "TAB" (tape automated bonding) or "COF" (chip on flex) style flex tail. The TAB connector is soldered directly to corresponding pads on your PCB using a hot-bar soldering machine. High volume contract manufacturers will be familiar with this type of construction and its assembly methods. Hot-bar soldering machines designed for prototype, rework or repair of TAB connections are available from equipment suppliers at reasonable cost.
The TAB style connection requires no separate connector, so the cost is very low, and the ultra thin profile of the display is maintained.
