This 128x64 graphic LCD display module (CFAG12864T2-NFH) is a small, thin, and very low-power. This display is visible in most lighting situations, including normal office lighting up to bright sunlight.
Since this LCD module has no backlight, there is no power used for the backlight, however, the display is not viewable in dark environments without an external light source. This display is well suited for low-power hand-held devices that are normally used in well-lit environments.
This LCD display has an integrated controller and voltage generating components mounted on the flexible tail. The tail connects to a standard 18-conductor 0.5mm pitch ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) connector:

This type of connector is mounted like any normal SMT component during your board's standard reflow cycle. The display can then be connected to the PCB at final assembly without soldering or tools.
The tape carrier of the LCD controller chip has changed from the previous series of parts. This changes the areas where bends in the assembly are allowed.
The LCD controller chip for the CFAX12864T/CFAX12864U family was discontinued by the chip manufacturer.
Crystalfontz created the CFAG12864T2/CFAG12864U2 family as replacements.
The new LCD controller chip used in the CFAG12864T2/CFAG12864U2 is mechanically different compared to the original controller.
This difference changes the areas where bends in the assembly are allowed.
The bendable area of the tail is marked by 3 green lines. On the old parts, the controller chip was mounted 5.5mm from the third green line. On the new tail, the controller chip is mounted 2.5mm from the third green line.
For many applications, this change will not affect production. Please ensure that your application does not put undue force on the connection between the flex and the LCD glass. Please ensure that there is not undue bending or force on the flex in the area of the hard, inflexible chip.
If your application does not put undue force on the connection or chip, then no change is needed.
