R5G6B5 or 565: A method of storing a full-color pixel in a single 16-bit word of memory.

For each pixel, the red and blue channels can take on 32 levels, encoded as 5 bits each. The green channel can take on any of 64 levels, encoded as 6 bits. Theoretical color depth is 216 or 65,536 colors.
