  • ATX power supply control functionality allows the buttons on the CFA-633 to replace the "power" and "reset" buttons on your system, simplifying your front panel design.
  • Temperature monitoring: up to 32 channels at up to 0.5 deg C absolute accuracy. Ready-to-use WRDOWY17 Dallas Semiconductor 1-Wire temperature sensors are optional. Alternatively, you can create your own sensors using DS1822 or DS18B20 parts and the tutorial on creating temperature sensors.
  • Integrated LED backlit 6-button translucent silicon keypad with screened legend.
  • "Fail-Safe" fan power setting allows safe host fan control based on temperature.
  • Non-volatile memory ("EEPROM") capability: Customize the "power-on" display settings plus a 16-byte "scratch" register for storing IP, netmask, system serial number, etc.

Recommendation: CFA633 firmware version 2.2 is considered a fit and form replacement. Testing of new firmware is recommended when the new hardware version 2.1 is available.
Availability: CFA633 hardware v2.1 is scheduled to begin shipping Q1 2017 after current inventory of hardware v2.0 is depleted following FIFO standards. Engineering samples for testing / validation will be available during this same time frame.
Price Change: No price change is currently scheduled.

Description: The CFA633 series of advanced display modules will be changing from the current hardware v2.0 to v2.1. Design changes were made for backwards compatibility.
Reason: As part of our continuous improvement, design changes have been made to the hardware of the CFA633 series of advanced display modules for improved manufacturability, improved quality, and a lower current profile.
Impact: Factory default configuration has no functional changes. Standard and custom configurations are not affected by the new hardware layout. CFA633 hardware version 2.1 should replace previous version of the CFA633 with no physical changes and is considered a fit and form replacement.
Six 0 ohm resistors have been added as factory default for closing the following jumpers:
JPGPIO -> RJPGPIO
JP8 -> RJP8
JP2 -> RJP2
JP4 -> RJP4
JP6 -> RJP6
JP8 -> RJP8

-KU builds only:
JPUSBPER -> RJPUSBPWR

Solder jumper are still in place for configuration after jumper resistor removed. Jumpers will appear open. Configuration changes not performed by Crystalfontz America, Inc. will need to make note of this manufacturing change.
Recommendation: CFA633 hardware version 2.1 is considered a fit and form replacement. Testing of new hardware is recommended when available.

Summary: Deprecation of "Drive Bay Kit Configurator" / New part numbers for drive bay kits.
Description: Starting August 1, 2015 the "Drive Bay Kit Configurator" located at https://www.crystalfontz.com/products/select_kit.html will no longer be functional for ordering one of our Serial or USB displays (CFA533, CFA631, CFA632, CFA633, CFA634, CFA635, and CFA735) in a bracket or SLED. This functionality is being moved to the Customize and Add to Cart process when checking out. This will allow for further customization by our customers to better fit their needs.

This change will eliminate the current "kits", but will add options not previously available such as pre-configured ATX functionality, and ALL the currently available interfaces will be orderable in a drive bay bracket or SLED.
The new part numbers will have the bracket / SLED and overlay type as a PREFIX to the configured part number. The choice for bracket / SLED to a display order will be via the cart options. Our CFA835 displays were introduced with these configuration options.

Based on customer requests and feedback, the WRUSBY33 has a much simpler connection to the main board of a system with a 0.100" standard USB header. The mainboard end of the WRUSBY33 is a single piece 4 pin connector, vs the individual single pin connectors on the WRUSBY11.


The WRUSBY33 has a single connector for +5v, -Data, +Data, and Ground that follows the standard pin out configuration. WRUSBY33 Product Page:

Availability:

Starting 2012-03-01 all standard modules will ship with this new version of the firmware.

Description: As announced in a PCN 10286 https://www.crystalfontz.com/news/pcn.php?id=10286 on 2010/10/06, the new CFA633 hardware v2.0 / Firmware version 2.0 ("s2.0" for serial modules and "u2.0" for USB modules) is fit, form, and function compatible with previous versions of the CFA633 series (hardware versions 1.5x).

Data Sheet. v0.1 was published 2010/11/22 for CFA633 hardware v2.0 / Firmware s2.0/u2.0. The Data Sheet includes descriptions of two command changes:

  1. In command 5 (0x05): Reboot CFA633, Reset Host, or Power Off Host, the module now knows if it is coming from a power up or from a reset. This in turn improves the bootup sequence. A note was added to describe the brief delay at bootup when more than one of the optional fans are on.


  2. In command 12 (0x0C): Set LCD Cursor Style, cursor style choice "3" changed from "3 = blinking block plus underscore" to "3 = blinking underscore cursor." The rate at which the cursor blinks is faster than in previous CFA633 versions (HW v1.x).
